President Akufo-Addo, Mayor Turner Open Doors of Friendship and Collaboration

Ghana’s President, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, held meetings with the Mayor of Houston, Sylvester Turner, as well as with members of the city’s business community, to facilitate partnerships between U.S. and African companies and investors over the weekend.

The Texas-West Africa Chamber of Commerce (TWACC) supported by The Mayor of Houston’s Office of Trade and International Affairs organized the Ghana Houston Business Forum on 18 September 2021 in Houston, where high-level discussions between H.E. Akufo-Addo and Mayor Turner were held.

Posso Ganame, President of the TWACC, invited President Akufo-Addo to participate as a VIP speaker, with a Ghanaian delegation, at the U.S.-Africa Energy Forum (USAEF) on 9-10 December 2021.

“I indicated at the meetings that we, in Ghana, will continue to create and maintain the conducive investment environment that not only guarantees the safety of investments, but good returns as well,” President Akufo-Addo said of the meeting, adding, “We will continue to protect legitimate investments, and preserve the atmosphere of peace, stability, and security that has been an important contributor to the increasing presence of investors in Ghana.”

The upcoming  USAEF event will be organized by Energy Capital & Power (ECP) in partnership with the African Energy Chamber, TWACC and other partners. It takes place at the C. Baldwin Hotel in downtown Houston on 9-10 December 2021. Under the theme New Horizons for U.S.-Africa Energy Investment, the USAEF 2021 event will act as a platform to integrate African petroleum, natural gas, energy storage systems, and renewable energy development projects with U.S. investors to facilitate long-term policy formation and partnerships.

The TWACC is a voluntary membership organization which aims to serve as the premier economic platform for Texan and West African nations by increasing trade ties, facilitating investments, and strengthening business activities and agreements between Texas, the U.S., the Economic Community of West African States, and other African countries.
