PwC South Africa names Anastacia Tshesane as next CEO

PwC has announced the appointment of Anastacia Tshesane as the new Chief Executive Officer of PwC South Africa, effective 1 July 2026. She succeeds Shirley Machaba, who has served as CEO since 2019 and will retire at the end of her term, concluding a 24-year career at the firm.

Tshesane has been with PwC for over 19 years and brings extensive experience in auditing across financial services, consumer markets, and industrial products and services. Since July 2021, she has served as Chairman of the PwC South Africa Governing Board and the PwC Africa Governance Board, positions she will formally hand over to Alsue du Preez, the current PwC Africa Insurance Leader with more than 18 years of partner experience.

During her tenure at PwC, Tshesane has led audits of major local and multinational companies and is known for her commitment to quality, ethics, inclusion, and workforce development.

Commenting on the appointment, Dion Shango, PwC Africa CEO, said Anastacia has been instrumental in the firm’s growth and in strengthening the auditing profession.

“She is an inspirational leader and has contributed significantly to PwC’s culture and success. I am confident she will effectively lead PwC Southern Africa in the years ahead.”

Outgoing CEO Shirley Machaba, outgoing, added, “It has been an incredible privilege to lead PwC South Africa. I am proud of the legacy we have built and am confident that Anastacia will continue to build on this foundation.”
