Springboks captain Siya Kolisi to earn 100th cap as South Africa face France

Springbok captain Siya Kolisi will reach a major career milestone when he becomes South Africa’s ninth Test centurion on Saturday, leading the team against France at the Stade de France in Paris.

The occasion will also mark Rassie Erasmus’s 50th Test as head coach — a double milestone that underscores the enduring success of the Springbok era under his leadership.

Kolisi’s 100th cap adds another chapter to an illustrious journey that has seen him rise from humble beginnings to become one of South Africa’s most inspiring sports figures. Under his captaincy and Erasmus’s stewardship, the Springboks have secured back-to-back Rugby World Cup titles, multiple Castle Lager Rugby Championship crowns, and a memorable British & Irish Lions Series victory.

Reflecting on Kolisi’s achievement, Erasmus said the milestone is both a personal triumph and a proud moment for the team and the nation.

“This is a huge milestone for Siya, and we are all delighted for him,” said Erasmus. “He’s a level-headed player, and while this will be a special occasion, he’s fully focused on the task at hand. Siya won’t allow the moment to overshadow what he must do on the field.”

Erasmus added that France would be eager to respond after their Rugby World Cup disappointment, but the Springboks are determined to rise to the occasion.

“This is a big game, and we know how determined France will be to make up for the World Cup result. We’ll celebrate Siya’s achievement after the match, but hopefully, we can make it a memorable one for him,” he said.
