The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has arrested 22-year-old Tyler Robinson in connection with the murder of activist Charlie Kirk.
Kirk was shot in the neck while addressing students at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah on Wednesday, 10 September.
The FBI had offered a $100 000 reward for information leading to the identification and arrest of the individual(s) responsible for Kirk’s murder. Videos of the shooting and the images were widely circulated on social media.
According to BBC News, Robinson was a third-year student enrolled in an electrical apprenticeship program at Dixie Technical College in southwest Utah, where he resided.
A spokesperson also noted that Robinson briefly attended Utah State University for one semester in 2021 and earned college credits through Utah Tech University while still in high school between 2019 and 2021.
He was not enrolled at Utah Valley University, the site of the shooting.
Robinson was arrested after he reportedly confessed to his father that he was the individual in the photos released by the FBI.
